MOTD: Pop Of Purple

Hi Gals.
I thought I would start posting MOTD or Makeup Of The Day. I think I have done this in the past but I stopped. Soooooo....I'm going to start again. This will be my first upload up MOTD.

This is what I like to do during spring/summer time. I love a neutral eye but sometimes its fun to add a pop of color. I like to add my pop of color under the lower lash line. It makes the look more fun and flirty. You can seriously do any pop of color you want. Its all looks great. One color I might avoid is red or pink. People might think your eyes look irritated or maybe it will look like you have been crying. We don't want that. Ha!

So here are the products that I used to create this look:

Bare Minerals Prime Time for Eyes

Makeup Geek Shadow in Shimma Shimma (brow highlight)
Bare Minerals Lost for Words shadow (all over lid)
Bare Minerals Silk Stockings Shadow (7 ways to Bare kit)(lower lid)
Bare Minerals Shadow in Namaste (enlightenment duo)(crease)
MAC Espresso Eyeshadow (socket)
Sephora Pantone Shadow in 13-2802 (pantone universe palette)(under lower lash line)
Bare Minerals Round the Clock Liner in 6am (lower lash line)
Be a Bombshell Liner (top lash line)
Eylure #202 Lashes (www.ladymoss.com)

Review: Bare Minerals "7 Ways To Bare"

Hey Gals....its been awhile.
Bare Minerals came out with another eyeshadow set that I was really excited about. You all know that I love my neutrals and I cant get enough of them.

This set is called "7 Ways To Bare." It includes seven loose small mineral shadows, one for every day of the week. This set retails for $38. Just to let you all know that the shadows are the smaller eyeshadow size which is 0.28 g/ 0.01 oz. Even tho its a smaller size shadow, they will still last you a long time! There is a pretty good range of colors and finishes in this set.

Left to Right:
Pearl Sateen Shadow
Nude Beach Matte Shadow
Chic Nude Shadow (permanent)
Silk Stockings Shadow
Pamper Shadow
In the Nude Shadow
Spiced Fig Liner Shadow

My favorite has to be the Silk Stocking Shadow, and the Pamper Shadow. They both have really pretty shimmery finishes.

Pearl Sateen would be great for a brow highlight. It has a very subtle shimmer. The Nude Beach and Chic Nude Shadow would be perfect for a base on the lid because of the matte finish and neutral undertone. I have used In the Nude for a crease color. I love putting matte browns in the crease to define my eye. Spiced Fig looks great for a smokey look on the outer corner of the lid on used to smudge in the lash line.

I am really happy with this set. If you are looking for some great basic neutrals, then check it out.

Whats your favorite color?

Review: Apres Chic Mineralize Eye Shadow

The new MAC Apres Chic Collection included 5 new mineral eye shadows. I had TONS of mineral eye shadows so I decided to get 2 out of the collection that were different from what I already have.

I love mineral eye shadows because they can be used wet or dry. These shadows apply sheer but you can wet your brush or use a wet creamy base to make these pigmented with a metallic finish. They have a very build-able application.

Winter Pursuit- Copper base with grey veining

Silver Birch- Grey base with peach veining

Here is a look I did using Winter Pursuit on the center of my lid.

What colors did you get? xx

Review: Khroma Beauty Kim's Kardazzle

Hey Gals. This is my second review on the new Khroma Beauty Palettes by the Kardashian Sisters. This is Kim's Dardazzle Palette. This small compact includes 8 shadows, a blush, highlighter, and a bronzer.

These palettes retail for about $13 and can be found at some drug stores, Ulta, and select Sears stores.

Kims palette has more of the cooler, smokier tones. Great for a dramatic smokey eye. The top shelf of this palette has 4 matte shadows and 4 shimmer shadows. I was a little disappointed on the application and pigmentation of the matte shades.  They were a little chalky and didnt apply super smooth. I did not like the color of the matte blue. Had a slight green undertone. The gray was very sheer. Not too pigmented. The matte black in this palette seemed chalky and looked like it would cause a mess during application.

When it came to swatching the shimmery shades, I really was surprised by them. Very pigmented, almost felt creamy and had a nice application. They almost looked wet. Very pretty metallic finish.

The bottom pan included a blush, highlighter, and bronzer. The blush in this palette is a matte bright pink. Seemed pretty pigmented. I was in love with the highlighter. Seemed like it had a duo chrome finish just like Khloe's palette. Seemed very pigmented and would be great as an eye shadow too. The bronzer color was nice but I probably wouldn't use it as a bronzer. I see myself using it more as a blush.

Out of the three, this palette wasn't my favorite but I still want to experiment with it. Let me know your thoughts on this makeup line if you have used it.

Review: Bare Minerals "A Vision in Velvet"

I was so excited to share this kit with you. Bare Minerals launched the rest of there holiday kits for this year and I had to grab everything. I heard about this kit a few months ago and I have been anxiously waiting for it.

This kit includes 20 mini size loose Bare Mineral shadows. Ten of them are a matte finish (no shine) and the other ten are a beautiful satin finish. This kit retails for $79 which is a great deal for all the colors you get.

A lot of older women out there are afraid of using a shimmer and has a hard time finding a good rage of matte finishes. This kit is for you ladies. All the colors you can possibly think of are in this kit. The satin finishes are nice too because they give you a pretty sheen rather than a glitter.

I love the packaging of this kit. Makes you feel like you are getting a big, long box of chocolates...at least that's how I feel.  :)  The gold shinny tops makes the shadows look for luxurious. This box is also a great way to store these shadows and still be able to see what the colors are.

There are some colors I absolutely love, and some are just ok. But totally love the kit overall.

Here are the swatches you have been waiting for....

Matte Shadows
(left to right) Velvet Blueberry, Velvet Violet, Velvet Pistacho, Velvet Vanilla, Velvet Strawberry

(left to right) Velvet Mauve, Velvet Green, Velvet Charcoal, Velvet Espresso, Velvet Taupe

Satin Shadows
(left to right) Stain Sterling, Satin Lilac, Satin Nude, Satin Plum, Satin Mist

(left to right) Satin Rose, Satin Sage, Satin Gold, Satin Caramel, Satin Peach

Love this kit! This is a must have :) -Ariel

Tutorial: Kat Von D Inspired Look

Kat Von D is definitely one of my favorites. I love her style and her look is very edgy with a rocker vibe. I have purchased many of her products from her own makeup line and I love them. I get a lot of requests to do a review of her products and use them in one of my tutorials.

I have quite a few of her palettes and I love every single one of them. All of her eye shadows are super pigmented and there are many different finishes. I think she has some of my favorite matte shadows.

This palette was given to me as a gift around Christmas time and I never really got to experiment with it. I thought I would create a look using this palette and re create one of her every day looks.

This palette was limited edition but you can definitely find similar or the exact same color in her other palettes. This one was nice because it has a lot of neutrals and can easily be used for a day time to a night time look.

This was the classic neutral smokey eye that was inspired by her everyday look. Pair it was a red/orange lipstick and you have the perfect Kat Von D look.

Check out my YouTube tutorial below on how I created this look!

Review: Eyeshadow by Urban Decay

I'm so excited that I finally got to get my hands on these shadows from Urban Decay. This is my first Urban Decay product! I would always pass by these shadows at Sephora and couldn't believe how pigmented and super smooth these were. When I went to IMATS I picked up 7 colors! All I can say is that I am in LOVE!

Urban Decay revamped their eye shadow formula and created 68 new shades. One thing I love besides and awesome pigmentation is the packaging. It's genius! Not only is it cute, but amazing quality AND the pan can be popped out and put into a palette!! I LOVE that idea.
THE FORMULA*
  • Even softer, amazingly velvety texture
  • Richer, more dense and decadent color
  • Smoother, more uniform pigment distribution and blendability
  • Longer-lasting, more crease-free wear

I am very happy with the colors I choose. There are a lot of neutrals because I really needed some great "go to" colors.

(left to right) Blackout, Lost, ABC Gum, Busted

(left to right) Buck, Loaded, Snakebite

(left to right) 1. Blackout 2. Lost 3. ABC Gum 4. Busted 5. Buck 6. Loaded 7. Snakebite

These eye shadows retail for $18 and have 1.5g (0.05 US oz.) of product. I highly recommend these shadows to anyone.  These are my favorite go to shadow and I definitely plan or collecting more of these colors.

What are your favorite colors? What shadow should be my next purchase?

Review: Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 The Rare Find

Hey BE Fans! Bare Minerals finally came out with 2 new Eyeshadow Quads which is part of the Supernatural Collection. This one that I will be talking about is called "The Rare Find." This palette has 4 warm tone shadows and they are all gorgeous!

Lost for Words- neutral beige
Surreal- soft shimmery gold
Eureka- metallic moss
Frisson- rusty auburn

(left to right): Lost for Words, Surreal, Eureka, Frisson

I am definitely a fan of this palette. I have always loved the new solid eye shadows from BE. They are super creamy, very pigmented, and goes on incredibly smooth. I can definitely see myself wear the soft neutral shades for everyday and easily build up the look for night with the pretty reddish brown and the metallic moss color. This palette would be a great "go-to" look for fall.

I think my favorite color is "Lost for Words." Its such a perfect base color with a really pretty finish. I do love my neutrals!

This quad retails for $30 and is limited edition!

 Peace- soft apricot

These colors are so pretty! I cant decide which is my favorite color. I think I like Euphoria the best. All of them are super pigmented and apply flawlessly! This can easily be used for a day look then bumped up to a night look with the darker shades.

peace, imagine, exhale, euphoria
