NOTD: MAC Deep Sea

MAC Deep Sea & Poshe Top Coat

Hey Guys! This is my new fav color to put on my nails. I recently picked this up from MAC from their new collection "MAC Me Over." I pictured myself wearing this during fall. Ive noticed that a lot of the rich jewel tones are becoming really popular now that all of the fall color pallets are coming out.

I think this color is really trendy and fashion forward. Just a fun way to add a pop of color to your "outfit". I definitely recommend getting a color that's at least similar to this one to add to your nail polish collection. Its a great color to have =)

Review: Poshe Top Coat

I recently ran out of my current top coat (which I hated) and wanted to find a new one. I heard of Seche Vite top coat and saw that it got tons of great reviews from youtube gurus. I decided to drive to my local CVS to see if I could find it. Just my luck they were sold out BUT next to it was this Poshe top coat. I was desperate for a top coat and didnt want to wait till it was back in stock.
I noticed the Poshe box had different rewards that this top coat won like 5 Allure Editors Choice Awards and Top 5 Readers Choice award in 04', 05' and 06'. I figured if It won all those awards then I might as well try it.

I also noticed that this nail polish claims to be anti-aging, for natural or artificial nails, non-yellowing, no UV lights or heat needed, highest gloss available, chip resistant and has 2 UV inhibitors and dries manicures in 5 minutes.

Anyway, I bought it and brought it home to try. I noticed the box was incredibly hard to open..it seemed like everything was sticking together. When I finally got it open, I noticed there was NO PRODUCT IN IT! I guess I didnt look hard enough when I bought it bc the bottle was completely empty and the product must of exploded at one point.  I was totally bummed and decided to give it another try and I exchanged it.

For the 2nd time I brought it home and was anxious to try it. I layered it over my new MAC nail polish to see how it worked. Right away I noticed it looked really glossy (which I like). The brush was nice and long so it was a great shape for application. I also noticed that it reaches the bottom of the bottle so It will be easy to get product when its running low. The polish was thick but easy to control and laid over the nail nicely. I let it dry and after about a minute or 2 i touched my nail to see if it was even dry and it was! I wait a couple more minutes to be sure and my nails were totally dry! I was totally impressed by the end result. The polish did not leave any streaking, no bubbling, etc. After feeling the top coat, it seems like nothing will chip my nails. Seems like a tough top coat. Also, my nails look incredibly shiny!!

Pros: nice brush applicator, makes my nails look incredibly shiny and feels tough, dried completely in 5 minutes, no streaking or bubbling
Cons: Packaging seems cheap and is tough to get open

I think I paid about 8-10 dollars for this polish but it was well worth it. There is about .5 fl. oz./15 ml.  Can be found at your local drug store.

I WILL be buying this top coat again and definitely recommend it.

MAC Me Over

I heard a lot of great things from my friends at MAC about this collection so I was excited to go check it out. I love the colors for a lot of the products but they were products I don't normally use from MAC like the gel liners, or the shade sticks. The colors were great because there was your mix of neutrals and a lot of beautiful colors for fall. The jewel tones were so pretty and got me excited about the fall trends and colors. I think everyone should check it out and there is at least a few great products for everyone in that collection.

MAC Lipglass Social Light
Pink w/Pearlized Undertones (Limited Edition)

MAC Lipglass Spite
Taupe Brown w/hint of plum (Permanent)

Carbonized Eyeshadow
Veluxe Pearl
Frosty Dark Brown
I love this color. This was the only one that caught my eye. Would be perfect for a smokey eye with a dark plum lip or a cherry red lipstick!

MAC Nail Lacquers
Normally I wouldn't even look at the nail polishes at MAC because after I buy them, I am usually disappointed. This time they had more of a matte finish instead of a polish that has a shimmer or a sparkle. After trying Royal Majesty I was definitely surprised and forgot how nice their matte nail polishes are. So I definitely recommend MAC polishes if its more of a matte finish.
 Deep Sea Nail Lacquer

Purple Majesty Nail Lacquer

Purple Majesty and Deep Sea

MAC 226 Brush
I was happy to see that they came out with a brush in this shape. Its very similar to the 224 brush but this one is smaller, not at fluffy and stiffer. This would be great for the crease area for a more defined crease. Have not tried the brush out yet but I am very excited to do so.

This OR That TAG

 MAKEUP:
blush or bronzer
BRONZER for sure! I feel like my face would be pale without it! Plus it helps shape and frame the face...and who doesnt want extra color right??
Product: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural "Give Me Sun"
lip gloss or lipstick
LIP GLOSS! I cant live with out my gloss! I have drawers and buckets filled with lip glosses! Lipgloss is a girls best friend =)
Product: Buxom "Dolly"
eye liner or mascara
MASCARA. My lashes look non existent without mascara. I dont like to use a lot of liner bc my eyes are small so if I use a thick liner..it makes them look smaller.
Product: Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Curl & Lengthen Macara
foundation or concealer
FOUNDATION! I use the Bare Escentuals Original Foundation and it gives great coverage. So If I had to pick one...for sure the foundation.
Product: Bare Escentuals Original Foundation Medium Beige
neutral or color eye shadow
NEUTRAL for sure. I have tons of brown colors. Im a sucker for them
Products: MAC Cork Eyeshadow
pressed or loose eye shadows
this one was hard for me but Im going to go with PRESSED. I chose pressed only bc its easy to travel with and cleaner..plus your can keep them in palettes. But if I am going for pigmentation then I would do loose.
Product: MAC Fill-able Shadow Palettes
brushes or sponges
I use BRUSHES for everything. They are the best tools! They are so so so important! They do all the work for you. The only sponge I use is my beauty blender for my concealer.
Product: Fav Brushes are the BE eye Defining brush and the BE Buff and Go Brush

MAC Colorizations Double Feature 3 & 4

So @ first I was not too excited about the MAC Colorizations collection and didn't even check them out until they were already out for a couple weeks. I went into my local MAC and just figured I would check them out. I must say I love the packaging of these duos. I wish they would make these palettes permanent so we can put whatever pans of eye shadows we want in there and throw in our purse. I did hear later that they might make this palette permanent. The colors were pretty but the browns in the two palettes caught my eye. Both of them had a turquoise color with them but the browns sold me (Im a sucker for browns). One thing that I really wish they did was make names for each of the shadows that were in the palettes. Anyway, I got double feature 3 & 4 and created a look with DF 3.

I was in a bright mood today and the first color that popped in my mind was Teal/Turquoise. This is one of my favorite nail polishes from Essie. I got this at Target last month for about $8.

I have two nail polishes which are almost the same color and it took me a sec to figure out which one I liked better. Trophy Wife won. If your looking for a dupe of this color or something similar try "Who Let the Dorks Out?" by O.P.I @ Sephora. Here is a comparison:
"Trophy Wife" & "Who Let the Dorks Out?"
Trophy Wife is more metallic and has more blue in it and Who Let the Dorks Out has more of a green undertone and some shimmer in it. When you hold them side by side, they are very close.

BASICS: Brows

.Before.
 Why are brows important?
Brows are a very important feature on your face. The brows help change the shape of your face and also frame your face. Brows always complete the look so taking care of them an getting the right shape down for your face is important. Brow either make the look...or break the look!!

 .Placement.

1. Where your brows should start:
Draw an imaginary line from the outer balls of your nose straight up to your brows. This is where your brow should start.
2. Placement of your arch:
Place a ruler, or something straight at the tip of your nose. Lean the ruler so it lays directly across your pupil. This will give you a medium arch to your brow. If you lean the ruler so it hits the outside edge of your pupil, this will give you a large arch. (I prefer a large arch!)
3. Where should your brow end?
Place the end of your ruler at the edge of your nostril and point it to the corner of your eye. This is where your brow should end.

.fill in.
start from the center of your brow and move outward to the end of your brow. This area should be the darkest part. Now with the left over brow powder on your brush, start filling in the inner corner or the starting point of your brow. You want to keep this part soft or else it will be too harsh for your face and give you a "mean" or "angry" expression.
Products & Tools:
MAC 266 Brush and MAC Brow Shader Walnut/Ivoire (no longer available)

.Conceal & Define.
With any cream concealer and a small synthetic concealer brush, start at the beginning of your brow and start outlining around your brow. This will clean up the edges and give shape and definition to your brow. Get as close to your hair as you can.
Products & Tools
MAC 242 Brush & MAC NC20 Studio Finish Concealer

.Blend.
With any makeup sponge, start blending out the edges of your cream concealer. This is buff out the edges so it looks nice and clean.
Tools
Beauty Blender
.Set.
This step is optional. I used a brow gel to comb over my hair to keep it in place and lock in my color. This is just a clear brow gel with a mascara wand to apply.
Products
Bare Escentuals Brow Gel

.Final Look.
